Noting that some of you, apparently, have missed my regular contributions
here, now that I'm settled in my new job and routine, I may have time to
participate a bit more.

A book that sounds worth reading, given the interest occasionally shown in
this forum to Pynchon's song lyrics, Brad Leithauser reviews Reading Lyrics
edited and with an introduction by Robert Gottlieb and Robert Kimball,  in a
recent issue of NY Review of Books, at

or so years of the twentieth century, the music of the American pop song's
golden age, which lasted roughly from 1925 to 1950, was something absorbed
