What I find less
defensible is that tactic of stalking Pynchon the man (and his family) as an
end in itself.

Which of course is an activity that no reputable Pynchon scholar -- a group
that includes Hollander -- pursues. If you're talking about the journalist
that stalked Pynchon for a photo back in '97, that person was soundly
criticized here on Pynchon-L at the time, and deservedly so.


Jules Siegel has serious credibility problems with regard to his
uncorroborated assertions about Pynchon, but that's all been well-aired here
on Pynchon-L over the past four years since I've been here and I don't plan
to resume that thread at all.
