Moaning has broken...

I'd like to share some thoughts with you.

1. The tendency to dominate is quite natural, and appears in every human community; and this list is a human community (not a troll community, I'd like to think).
2. I don't like to dominate, but I don't condemn others who have this tendency. I don't mind standing on the background; I come forward when I choose to, and I don't feel "intellectually intimidated".
3. Name-calling never helped anyone promote his ideas/opinions. In fact, it weakens the arguments of the name-caller.
4. Moreover, name-calling hinders all conversation and exchange of ideas; therefore, it is undemocratic (not to mention impolite) and unproductive.
5. What's wrong with anonymity? This is the internet, remember? What difference does it make (on-list, at least) who I really am and what my real name is? What's next, submitting a complete and extensive CV before being accepted on the list? Doesn't what I (or anyone) have to say suffice?
6. Whatever happened to tolerance?
7. Perhaps we should all listen carefully (in our case, read twice) before replying to any particular post, to avoid generating a series of arguments based on misreadings of each other's writings.
8. If someone wants a p-list that's more fun, he/she should try to make it more fun himself. Just complaining is unfruitful.

Thank you for listening.

Cyrus
