On another note: Slothrop and the Rockets

This has a very nice feel to it.  This would make Slothrop more a product of 
genetic engineering than Pavlovian conditioning, and as you note, Pointsman 
does eventually abandon Pavlov.  His apparent escape would thus be illusory. 
  In fact he would be ever on their invisible elctronic leash.  Next time I 
read GR, I'll keep this theory in mind.
