COLGR part 2 Oedipus anyone?

Oedipa, Oedipus, OED, Electra, Mourning Becomes
Electra, Mourning, Crying, Lamentations, Jeremiad;
Tristero, Tristia, Bonjour Tristesse (more, much more
on this when we hit Ch. 6 ca. Aug. 21st); Pierce as
father, father-figure, name-of-the-father, Dead
Father, God, deus absconditus; Blindness, "the
greenish dead eye of the TV tube," "green bubble
glasses" ...
Hm ...
Oedipa begins the novel blinded, to what's been
hidden, a la Poe's purloined letter, in plain sight?
Remains blinded at the end, at that final delta-t
before that eponymous auction? What will be the
(tragic?) (self-)revelation? Has there been such an
epiphany already? Has Oedipa recognized it? And so
forth ...
More generally, the quest, the detective novel, and
the "end" thereof (in that peculiar postmodern sense
thereof, at that final delta-t), Oedipus Tyrranos, a
la Plato's Fable of the Cave, as symptomatic of
"Western" epistemology, un/dis/re/whatever/covering
the real, the truth, from beyond and beneath that
mantle of surfaces, appearances ...
Cf. Alain Robbe-Grillet, The Erasers (Les gommes,
1953) epigraph from Oedipos Tyrannos, perhaps the
beginning of the end of the detective novel, an eraser
worn down at either end, presumed to be an importnat
clue in the mystery, the homicide at hand, with "di"
printed on it, remnant of "Oedipe," a French eraser
brand ...
Not drunk, but exhausted nonetheless ...
