And the infinite regress of Metzger's life as an actor-cum-lawyer (who now,
like all lawyers, acts) being played by an actor (Manny di Presso --->
"manic depressive") who was once a lawyer relates back to the lawyer,
Roseman, and his manic and paranoid obsession with instigating a case
against tv "lawyer", Perry Mason, played by Raymond Burr. TV as simulacrum?
Shades of Baudrillard?

And Oedipa just wanted a quiet night watching _Bonanza_ on the tube.
