One Way or Another

Very quickly, 'cos I gotta run, but, think solipsism,
the very tangible, very real, very, well, paranoid
possibility thereof throughout The Crying of Lot 49. 
Is Oedipa, is any character, is Pynchon, are we as
readers, merely, in our various ways, "projecting a
world"?  "Behind the hieroglyphic streets there would
either be a transcendent meaning, or only the earth"
(p. 181).  But, then again, "exluded middles; they
were bad shit, to be avoided" (ibid.) ...  

And I think the point below about, perhaps, selves and
others is a good one to consider here, esp. in re:
"legacies," "inheritnaces," transmissions.  Just
reread that David Thoreen paper on Vineland ...
