Pynchon claims to have read BDSL MS in 1963. 

I have always thought that Farina was so much cooler
than Pynchon. When Pynchon has Van Meter and Zoyd
reminisce about how  LSD (X-ray Vision)  taught them
about Death/Life and the State, it's seems as though P
has finally caught on to what Farina knew about Death
all along.
