How many rolls for GR?

A German firm which prints adverts on toilet paper is adding classic books
to its collection.

Georges Hemmerstoffer said he spotted a gap in the market when the copyright
expired on works by the likes of Romantic poet Heinrich Heine.

The 52-year-old, who founded Wishi, says his company has started working on
reprinting their works on loo roll.

The former advertising executive from Osnabrueck added: "We have also been
approached by one contemporary German author who wants to print his books on
toilet roll instead of traditional paper.

"Obviously the rolls are not big enough for a whole book so we plan to print
the book in instalments. There will be one chapter on each roll and as you
can get up to 12 rolls of paper in a multi-pack you could print a 12 chapter
work."

The firm plans to present the toilet roll books at Germany's biggest book
fair in Frankfurt next year and hopes they could be sold in normal bookshops
or gift stores.

Mr Hemmerstoffer has been printing adverts on loo roll for 18 months.

"The great thing about it from the advertisers' point of view, is that they
have a captive audience," he said. "In Germany a person usually spends
between 15 and 20 minutes on the toilet each day.

"That's a long time in which you can read something and be sold an idea or a
product. Even if you never watch television, listen to the radio or read a
newspaper, everyone goes to the toilet."
