paranoia in psychoanalytic perspective

 chronical psychosis, that is characterized by a more or less well systematized 
 delusion, the predominance of interpretations, the absence of intelligence  
 decrease; in general, it doesn't lead to an extinction of the personality.

 freud filed under "paranoia" not only persecution mania, but also erotomania,  
 jealousy madness, and megalomania.
