suburban snobbery? could that be a form of class envy disguised?

I thought about her too last night...seems to be riding that 
maternal/nobless oblige axis.....she is the rich kid slumming and 
caring for the crew........again, I want to make sure that you 
understand that I do not believe that it MOTIVATES his fiction, 
merely informs it to a degree....btw, you have avoided the "decline 
of the SLothrops" passage from GR - think it may be related to the 
facts of the Hollander article...there sure are a lot of other 
correspondences between Slothrops and Pynchons - non?

but I can see how it might be an issue of interpretation.....which I 
will do a lot better with given the text.....
