The machine, as I remember it, sat on that raised
floor, all the wires ran under the floor, they still
do, and you could lift the floor and have easy access
to the wires and cables. When you approached the room
in which the machines were located (these were
air-conditioned and the operators wore coats) 
automatic doors would begin to open in front of you.
Feeling like Maxwell Smart you would walk up to the
ramp insert your ID or a code. It was noisy and I
don't remember anyone talking.
