O yeah :-) Imagine we both first saw the flic (assume we're talking about
Casablanca) about the the time WWII was coming or had just come to an end.
Don't remember thinking it anything special. I liked any movie with Borgart
even when his woman was only Alexis Smith let along the divine Ingrid
Bergmann. The sentiments expressed in the firm were so typical of the day.
Evil but at the same time comical Nazis plus Allied self sacrifice in order
to win the war. As Bogey sez, it doesn't take much to know the problems of
three little people doesn't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world.

The cult status the movie has attained is like cult statuses everywhere,
well, who knows what they're like.

I sometimes wonder what it would be like seeing Casalanca without all the
first hand associations I have with the events of those days. Same
wonderment goes for Gravity's Rainbow of course.

Unlike Bogey and Bergmann and Mike Curtiz P had still to work from secondary
sources. I know this is a fact and that P's age is a fact but still after
all the years find it hard to believe.
