Audition

Very interesting stuff. As for the position of the watcher/torturer/killer
reflecting the position of the viewer of the movie see also Michael Powell's
"Peeping Tom", the heavily underrated "Strange Days" by Kathryn Bigelow, in
which Mrs. Bigelow manages to turn Powell's construction - filming the face of
the victim during the murder while the victim is staring into a mirror watching
the look on her own face while being murdered - into something even nastier,
and, of course, Argento's aptly titled and not for the squeamish "Terror at the
Opera". The dark side of sexuality, as they say. A pity I missed "Audition" in
Los Angeles as well as here in Bonn...
Best wishes
Thomas
