MDDM Tenebrae's Comet?

A hinged mirror? Can't quite imagine that just yet, but it sure sounds
interesting. 
I was thinking that preterit history is subjunctively subtextual or some
such sort of thing. Say like the Hanoverian music you mention above is
noted because of Herschel, but what about Slowcombe?

Now in that Chapter we meet Slowcombe, another Wapping lad pressed into
service who learned his Art from the fam'd Hanovarian Fifer Johann
Ulrich, whom the Duke of Bedford (more in the Duke later) had brought
into the previous War to instruct his regimental winds.  

Now,  P has done his research here, he gets the Fifer history, the 7
Years War history, the Austrian Succession history, the biography--the
Duke is John Russell and so on correct. What about Slowcombe? What is
his bio/history? There's the rub. Say, what about Caroline H? Wouldn't
any feminist author interested in marginalized history/biography jump at
the opportunity to slip a Caroline into the tale? Tenebrae's Comet?
