Until your comments about the current war being all about oil, I 
pretty much agree with you....

I can't speak for Paul and Dave, but as for me, I am far from 
offended by reasonable argument for or against my side. (Of the sort 
you generally offer; indeed, most people on the List.) Doug's 
underhanded tactics and general rhetoric offend me; Barbara's 
utopianism exasperates me, and certain anonymous posters annoy me, 
even though I occasionally find them amusing.

And by the way, I also see a leftist leaning in Pynchon's works, but 
not one that comfortably embraces total pacifism, nor one that 
enshrines uncritical thinking.
