Editorial tone? People don't read the Times for editorial tone. They read it
to find out what is happening. One reads the alternative media to find out
what someone wishes was happening. The Guardian may still be a good
newspaper too.
This having been said it may nevertheless be that the editorial tone of the
Times has shifted. I will start paying more attention. If it's become
superpatriotic that would be deplorable. Perhaps they are still in shock in
Times Square. From my reading their reporters around the Globe are still in
their usual fine conditiion however.. Same for the Washington Post.
As for Pynchon, not too much should be made out of what at best is a
translation of a translation.
