So it was a stroke of inspired genius on the part of 4th Century Mother
Church to declare without benefit of textual evidence that the birth of the
Savior conincided with the Winter Sostice. Otherwise much of value in our
nature worshipping past might have been lost.

The gradual switch of mankind to Monotheism took place of course for valid
historical reasons. Can anyone remember what they were. I can't at the
moment but will try to look it up somewhere.
