I do, for the most part, try to ignore your strident blather--and I suppose
it's a tribute to the democratic and all-inclusive nature of this list that
someone as fatuous, banal, and boring as you is allowed the space you
take--but everything and everyone has its (his) limits.

<<... put it up against the likes of Noam Chomsky, Linguistics professor at
MIT>>
Impressed by credentials; the contrapositive (would it be?) of an ad hominem
argument.

One should know that expertise in one field is no guarantee of same in
another (think of Shockley).

<<And his impenetrable calm, cool, and matter-of-fact demeanor makes him all
the more convincing. >>

To a bubblehead.

<<As Chomsky said in one of his recent lectures, 'the police would never
consider wiping out a whole neighborhood in the apprehension of a criminal if
they knew him to be hiding in a certain part of town.' >>

Whether Chomsky (or George Kennan or Tom Arnold) said it, it's an inapt,
demoagogic comparison.

<<I even heard on my local news recently that the police department is being
pressured to slow down their car chases, rely more on the helicopters,
because the public started complaining their kids were getting mowed down by
speeding cop cars. >>

And this bit of regional arcana is relative to what exactly?

<<'How dare those little brown rag-headed bastards ask US/us for proof!'
Can'cha just hear him? in that down-home Texas drawwwl? You can almost see
his bowed legs and the guns at his hip, even that brown tobacco spittle
dripping from his chin.>>

For the above one can feel only embarrassment.

<<And it's obvious from earlier reports that the Taliban was willing to
negotiate. Had we sat down with them at the bargaining table, put the fear
of bombs into them there instead of the battlefield, we may well have had him
by now. >>

This is childish, ignorant, puerile.
