Just another of those GR "hmmmm..." moments

I was watching a show on the history channel yesterday about Germany's
rocket program in WWII. It seems an allied response to the V-1 campaign
involved flying planes filled with explosives into German targets
(though none of these missions succeeded). After taking off, the
two-man crew was to bail out and the weapon was then supposed to be
radio controlled to impact by an accompanying aircraft. The code name
for the program was "Aphrodite" -- maybe it had something to do with the
goddess of love being married to Hephaestus, maker of Jupiter's
thunderbolts.
While all this aroused in my mind a mixture of historical and
mythological associations (not to mention the recent terrorist attacks),
an additional layer of "significance" was exposed when the narrator
related that one of the pilots in the Aphrodite program was Joseph
Kennedy, Jr., who was killed when his plane exploded over England.
