Dear Cat,

well, I've never participated in a group reading before, but my exorbitant
phone fees only allow me to come online after 11:00pm, a ritual I perform
religiously every night.I'm a Pynchon groupie living in Peru, where my
dearest living author still remains undiscovered, one of my main purposes
being to introduce him to the local "literatti".

I met Pynchon quite romantically about three years ago, when I was about
fifteen, and I've read his books in haphazard conditions. I truly wish I
could contribute more to the list, but I'm at the obvious disadvantage of
not being able to have his books at hand. My boyfriend lives in Australia
and he's going to send me some of P's books soon, but in the meantime I
remain a passive (albeit not detached) observer. =)

As regards "Tristram Shandy", I must make to you the terrific confession
that it is the only book I ever started that I never finished; and its been
an a sharp stab on my pride to have immersed myself deep into "Finnegans
Wake" ( several times) but to never have forded past Sterne. So, yes, do
count me in for the group reading. I have a very handsome edition of the
book in English ( as should be =) and I'll be joining the discussion as soon
as it starts.

An electrified,
Monica =)
