Racial vilification (Re: warp & woof)

Well, my mom used to tell me that only poor white trash used the word nigger. 
 Then when I was in high school, my great aunt came out from Missouri.  
Nigger was the only word she used for African Americans.  She did not use it 
in a disparaging way.  She used to talk about the " nice nigger ladies" she 
used to work with in a restaurant in the Ozarks during the depression.  I 
don't believe she was a racist.  
I don't use the word myself.  I have a cousin in Oklahoma who uses it freely 
when talking to white people.  He is a racist, makes no bones about it.  Life 
must be complicated for him, since he's a Democrat & ardent Clinton 
supporter.  I wager he wouldn't use the word to many blacks in conversation.
