Yeah, Zwolfkinder does have a faded, low-rent feel to it distinct 
from Disneyland's corporate gloss.  I guess part of the parallel I 
had in mind is the proximity of Disneyland to the Los Angeles-area 
aerospace industry, using the amusement park to keep the aerospace 
engineers and their families occupied and happy so they can keep 
working on those missiles in the early '60s when Pynchon occupes the 
Manhattan Beach apartment -- just up the road a bit -- that JS 
describes in his Playboy article, where P was working on GR in the 
mid-60s. In that respect, Disneyland might be seen to play a role 
similar to the role that Zwolfkinder plays in keeping Pokler steady 
on his rocket science program.
