Must admit that a quick search yielded no evidence of pre-WWII
Zwolfkinderesque parks.  StoryLand in Jackson,NH was opened in '54 (which
predates Disneyland, though I'm not suggesting Pynchon ever visited the
area, else why would he live in NY...?) and though the owner was inspired
to build the park while traveling in Germany, it was a German doll maker
that got him going, not some similar park.    www.storylandnh.com
