Which is precisely why the reports under discussion are important: to
remind us that the kind of thinking that gave rise to the Nazis and
which they continued to exploit was and is (and no doubt will always be)
prevalent in the Allied countries as well, maybe even in our own heads .
. . ("What would YOU have done?)

It is the realization of complicity that drives the Counterforce.

novelist Paco Ignacio Taibo deals with a lot of the American inheritance
of evil (like Stephen King said at the start of _Cujo_, adapting some
Arab historian whose name I forget, evil is a constant, following its
own version of the laws of thermodynamics, alternately languishing and
thrilling in its inertia, never disappearing but moving from body to
body -- the best we can hope for is a broad dissipation of the
destructive force, preventing its deadly concentration). In particular,
