I'm not sure what this signifies, but I'm curious about the religious
composition of the Pynchon family's actual neighborhood.  After all, NYC,
Westchester, and Long Island comprise a sizable chunk of territory that was
not at all homogenous.  To either side of Pynchland (in Suffolk County, Long
Island and in Yorkville, Manhattan) were outposts of Nazi sympathizers.
