I don't think that it will come as any great shock to millison that, like
malignD, I think many of his arguments are specious and banal.

If millison is indeed determined to participate in the list discussion in
his own right, which I believe he is, then there is no good reason for
tippy-toeing around him or trying to stonewall him or whatever. Or anyone
else for that matter.

monroe expressed a desire for clarification about a notion that Pynchon's
"genius" is indisputable and that this is then used as the starting point
for interpretation of the texts. millison has, on occasion, argued something
approaching this I think. Perhaps I haven't done justice to either monroe's
request or millison's arguments, but the opportunity is now there for
millison to engage in calm discussion on this topic on the list with monroe
if he so wishes, or indeed for monroe to approach millison privately if his
queries are sincere.
