[Terrance]

Benny needs a yob. The boys on the Train suggest that he
hunt alligators in the sewers. Is it steady, he asks the
boys and then he falls asleep on the Shuttle, dreams about
littering the pavement, the street, with the scattered parts
of his disassembly body-- his sponge of a brain, clock of a
heart, scattered among the manhole covers. That's how a man
gets down in the sewer or up from the sewer, through the
manhole cover.  Sleeping on the Shuttle, riding on the S.I..
Ferry, that's what a guy out of a yob does. When the girls
shows (Joesefina Mandoza)  up Benny is dreaming, the boys,
straight away, tell her that Benny needs a yob, WANTS to
hunts alligators. 

"She must help him." (These kids these days, how wonderful!)

Why must she help him? 

"Do you like it here," she said. (What a question, she's a
social worker or something?) 

"I do not like it, lady, no," said Profane. (odd language,
but I guess he's half asleep)

Two Ladies, they have been to Bloomingdales (is that where
Esther sees the dress?), with hostile glances and Fina
begins to cry. 

"Help", Profane said. He's horny, a girl wants to take him
home, now he's got a kid in his arms and a woman, and two
kids in toe. These kids are full of energy and athleticism,
Benny's falling over trash cans, he gets caught in the doors
of the up town subway, and Fina tugs, maybe she grabbed him
by the belt (Pig will do the same for Wins later) and a
miracle happened. Of course this is also below the street.
The uptown train here is under the street, the sewer is
under the subway. Kook is pleased, he sings a Love song all
the way home, mother falls in love with Benny right away,
father is also out of a yob. No yob, no mun, no mun, no fun.
They send Benny out to get a yob. "Man, you go find a job."
"Fina says so." But Benny, after chasing Kook through the
apartment, meets Angel, and Geronimo (he's a neighbor who
sleeps in the kitchen). Benny, remember, 

She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh
I told her I didn't and crawled off to sleep in the bath

Tub, that is, better than the kitchen floor, which is where
Geronimo is sleeping, Fina's got him "backed up", maybe, he
likes the sauce, no yob that pays. HEY, wait just a minute.
They don't get paid to hunt alligators, they are volunteers.
