Maureen Dowd is an awkward satirist because she is too much part of what
she mocks.

WE know that the New York Times wants people to think that these
Republicans are radical racist state separatists so that people will
think those Democrats are their friends. But They really couldn't care
less, because there is no Mason-Dixon Line where They operate. They all
support slavery, but agreeing after that civil war to call it The Right
To Work, which of course means Their Right To Make Money. And if you
want some of that money, too, then They'll just go over to some sweaty
half-a-country with no rain forests left to sell and give the blessing
of freedom to those folks with the The Right To Work in "your" factory .
. .

In any case, Democrats are as obsessed with race as Republicans are.
