Sorry about not having framed my post more intelligibly. Dave Monroe had
noticed that the new V companion mentions a speculation I made to the
p-list in February of 1996 as to a possible  source of the defrocked
monk Fenice's name. I  was supplying the full post as I found it in the
archives.

Sorry also about the spoiler aspects--hate it when people are always
saying they're sorry.  Have spent the last hour or so reading more of
the February 1996 postings. Fascinating. Think I may quote some later.
Must have been some kind of V. group reading going on but I was more
struck by the GR references. Religion, spirituality, hosing-out time,
death. . May quote some of them later. Heh, heh.
