I think maybe the pynch is offering us the option, especially by remaining
out of sight, and not "competing" in the media with the characters and
situations he creates. Maybe "we" can opt out of the deathwish contract
inherent in the typical passive role of "the reader"and feast on a little
schlemihl meat. (or am I thinking of a schmohawk?)

I, however, will remain a vegan.
