Normally comparative studies are the desirable mode, though fan-dom might make
this difficult.  But seriously, yes. And don't forget Gore Vidal's now ancient
NYRB piece 'Plastic Fiction' where P was singled out favorably among
so-called university writers for being the one among the rest not relying on a
university connection.  Ah, Gore. And what's wrong with a university
connection, eh,  rj and kai and others I'm sure.  Oh well . . . .
