1. P is paranoid because They are out to get him because he
wrote an encrypted mediation on the JFK assassination. Or
They are out to get him for other reasons. Something he has
written in V. or in a short story? How the hell do They know
that he has written a story about the JFK assassination?
Magic eyes? Other critics don't cite Hollander. Is this
because they don't have the magic eye? [jfk/CIA]
2. Was Richard Farina assassinated too? [jfk/CIA]
3. P's name was on an ati-war letter, so what? [jfk/CIA]
4. There are several forms of paranoia in P's fiction. For
example, "operational paranoia" GR.25 and "creative
paranoia" which P defines as developing at least as thorough
a We-system as a They-system--" GR.638.
Again, Hollander says, Pynchon writes as though he fears for
his life" and Hollander misreads the Watts essay too. The
problem is the huge RISK Hollander takes. First, he says P
has been disinherited. Where is the evidence? What really
happened to Pynchon & Co., does Hollander say? Does
Hollander know? Hollander constructs a paranoid scheme of
disinheritance, revenge, conflagration, apoacolypse and
attributes it to our man Tom. Misreading the Watts essay
Hollander claims, "According to Pynchon, the blacks have
become paranoid... the resulting a schema: paranoia, rage,
and eventual conflagration." [PP, jfk/CIA,PI]
5. What kind of paranoia "usually evolves out of a sense of
bing disinherited and evolves into a need for apocalypse"???
[P's Inferno, 11-78]
