I don't know, really, if we have any indication, but I have always
taken the narration focused through Benny being at least factually
accurate if not emotionally honest, as opposed to the Stencilized parts
of the book.  We are expected, I guess, to not trust the schemihl but
trust the scholar/detective.  In _V._, of course, it seems the opposite
may be true, mostly.
