See, wha' had happened was this: the mention of the article in Esquire was supposed to lead to a mention of the article in GQ on the Air Jordans (the shoe) where the writer (Peter Rubin) says:

"It's the Gravity's Rainbow of shoes: sprawling, ambitious, layered with innuendo and allusion. And just looking at it is almost enough to scare you away. Almost."

Anyway, I thought the quote was funny, especially applying it to the marketing machine that is the Nike Air Jordan. Just the juxtaposition of what I perceive Pynchon to stand for, and what I perceive the evil empire that is Nike to stand for...so in my warped mind I was going to tie the two (the quote from GQ and the article in Esquire) together in some manner or other.

Then I got called away, I forgot about sending the quote, and danged if it didn't take on a minor life of its own again.

I truly apologize for bringing up the Holocaust. I certainly didn't intend to start anything. It's a trojan horse with a broken leg that needs to be shot off the list, imho.
