when i saw p.e. in hamburg 1990, the situation was quite different. about 1/3
of the audience consisted of real young kids of 11 or 12 years who were -
before, during and after the concert - breakdancing most of the time. since
the gig took place in the "große freiheit 36" near the reeperbahn, nearly all
the boys had their father or mother with them. so the audience's second third
was formed by older people interested not so much in hiphop but in their
children's well-being. accordingly the whole event had a more sportive
charakter, which then again fits not too bad into the overall hiphop culture.
& of course the kids did not allow their parents to stay near them during the
show, so they had to stand in the back & us, well, "regular concert folks"
found a lot of space to dance inside this wall of noise ...
