----------
(448) Later in the Priest's house:
"God lets some of us wait in queer backwaters," said Father Avalanche.
"Do you know how long it's been since I've shriven a murderer/ At the
time of the Ghallis Tower murder last year I had hopes..."
----------
Question: Is Fr, A's attitude here much different from Veronica's
fascination with the scene of a battle in Florence, or later V.'s
fascination with the state of seige? Both want to be near the scene of
violent death. (If this is V.'s sin, then why has Fr. A. not become some
monster?)
V. is much more than Fr. A. She lives in Providence's realm.
