Spin of the Day
What's the difference between propaganda, misinformation, yellow journalism,
and public relations? If corporations have nothing to hide, why then do they
hire PR firms to speak for them? If you've ever pondered such weighty
questions, check out PR Watch's Spin of the Day.
PR Watch's creed is to dig below the thin, and many times thick, veneer of
detritus and hogwash that so often disguises the truth. As its homepage puts
it: "We help the public recognize manipulative and misleading PR practices
by exposing the activities of secretive, little-known propaganda-for-hire
firms that work to control political debates and public opinion."
The Spin of the Day tattles on the current slab of misleading missives from
such respected sources as Disney and Microsoft, and through investigative
reporting, attempts to shine a little light on the shadowy motives behind
such statements.
Is it a coincidence that Microsoft heavily funds such "think tanks" as the
Association for Competitive Technology, the Independent Institute, and the
National Taxpayers Union? Is it also a coincidence that these "brain trusts"
are outspoken critics of the government's attempt to break up Microsoft's
monopoly?
If you're the type that doesn't jump off a cliff just because your big
brother told you to, Spin of the Day will tune you in to the world of
doubletalk, subjugation, repackaging, and out-and-out B.S.
