One could just as easily make a case for randomness- true randomness- the cravng of all inanimate systems... or subsystems (as the world, if you hadn’t already heard, IS the case...) But in a world not yet infinite- on the way to infinite, perhaps, but not yet there- ever expanding its past, but never repeating: NEVER, as Deeply and his minions signify: No V Return, not even for eve: NeVeR, nEvEr, neVer, ne’er... a world ‘tween n and r, never & return... thar she blows... “o,p,q” become V., flanked by e, alas, become nothing but nothing, Nothing without end, or at least, no return... And you may have spotted her- whiter than water- invisible, but for your gaze... 

64 is also a curious number. On the one hand, there is the I Ching and its 64 variations, its faith in the value, veracity, validity of the random, to ensure for the seeker of truth, the will of providence, or, at least, the lack of human design- i.e., unbiased. While on the other limb, there is the only known source of agency in this non-repeating world- the genetic code: with all its words made up of three of four possible letters- A,T,C,G- that is, 4^3 = 64 possible, distinct words (don’t be frightened by the math, trust me). But of the potential 64, life uses only about 21. The other 43 are synonyms for one of the chosen 21. In the trade, such a code that uses only a portion of its potential “codality” is known as a “degenerate” code. Trust me...  

Only a portion of the 64 possible signs are significant, the rest are redundant mirror sites- empty lovemaking- leftover from a past when there was neither coincidence nor significance, when randomness was unsullied by need- mutual or otherwise.

But it is always the part which is true to the whole, that which allows itself, by its fidelity and recognition of mutual need, to be be intergrated into the whole, the whole that discrimminates and differentiates (and by so doing becomes the whole) that which is significant from that which is passed over. So with v. and V. and the rite of passage into significance.
