A poodle is suing a US vet for allegedly trying to spay her instead of
cleaning her teeth.

An Ohio lawyer has filed the lawsuit on behalf of Poopi and her owners.

The couple took the dog to a Xenia vet to have her teeth cleaned. But they
claim the vet tried to spay her instead. The clinic would not comment.

It's the second time attorney Paul Leonard has filed a lawsuit on behalf of
an injured pet in a bid to change the Ohio law.

The former Dayton mayor wants tougher penalties for mistreatment of animals.
