thinking out of the box

"jbor"
"Define", "tether", put it in a box: all a little bit anal, surely?

Well, if the shoe fits...I'm not the one who keeps trying to define
Pynchon as PoMo; I'm just wondering what utility might accrue from
such categorization. Sure, Pynchon's novels are PoMo, if you want to
call them so, but so what? Call them Menippean satire, too, or
Modernist -- whatever label you want to put on them. But so what?
Reminds me of a common sort of conversation I often hear here in the
U.S. "Oh, you're from New York? Wow. I have a brother in New York.
He lives over on the Upper West Side." "Along with several million
other people. Sorry, I haven't met your brother."

Make the bucket as big as you want, but what are you going to do with it.
