Sure, here in the States PoMo is dead anyway, but what's
happening here, and Doug is opposing it, no one else has the balls I guess,
is an ideological conflict. that is jbor
is now attempting to read not only GR, but V. and CL49 with his very
radical "postmodern" cultural relativism. as jbor reads GR, Blicero is
the most venerated charater in the text. the only explaination jbor
provides for this shocking claim is that Blicero is openly bi-sexual (don't
touch that one or you will be accused of every horrible crime against
humanity jbor can think of) and is admired by the other charaters--Enzian,
Katje, Thanatz, the 175s-- at moments in the novel because his is a
bi-sexual in love with Empire. this is of course a terrible misreading of
the text. because Blicero, according to jbor's radical reading shares his
creator's anti-american views he is justified in some way, in not only
wanting to break out of the cycle of infection death, but in doing so by
putting his lover in a rocket and playing Hansel and gretel and so on... )

So now, I'm simply pointing out that jbor treats
postmodernism not as literary theory or even critical
theory, not as most PoMO critics do, not as Brian McHale does,
(McHale says, V. AND CL49 are not Postmodernist), but as
a poltical and ideological event.
