Battersea Dogs' Home has been inundated with calls after it offered a couple
the chance to spend a day living like stray dogs.
Dog lovers say they want the chance to eat out of bowls, be taken for walks
on a lead and spend hours locked inside the home.
They'll be picked up at a police station, washed and put in their own dog
run. Their own dogs will be pampered for the day. The home is warning the
number of strays doubles during the holiday season.
The home's Paws For Thought campaign is to remind people to plan ahead
before they go on holiday and not force their dogs to fend for themselves.
"The couple will experience the exact sights, smells and conditions of a
real stray dog during its time in Battersea care," a spokeswoman told
Ananova.
She said around 50 to 60 people have called in the last day to put their
names forward for the challenge.
Would-be strays can call 0208 569 9889 for more information.
