Well, no again Doug. It's a description. A useful adjective, like "cranky",
or foolish. One which reasonable people with reasonable discursive skills
and intentions can comprehend.
This is the "Control and Analysis" approach Pynchon derides:

> unless you want to untether
> PoMo from its late 20th century historical context
And, just for the record, I don't claim that Blicero is "the tragic hero of
_GR_", though I do believe he is the character most revered by the other
characters in the novel.
