is Pynchon a religious writer?

I respect you as a fellow Pynchon fan, and realize you've done a lot to help
other Pynchon scholars via your web site.  

Perhaps you don't know that I am a regular contributor (of bibliographical
information, primarily) to Pynchon Notes, and in my own very small way also
try to bring to the attention of fellow Pynchon readers information that
will be of interest.

If you read carefully what I've written, I believe you'll find that I said
Pynchon is a deeply religious writer, and I support this assertion by
pointing to the substantial religious content of his works, and the serious
way with which he deals with religious themes.  I don't think this is in
accurate. Pynchon does indeed come out of Christian tradition, both
personally and culturally. Whether Pynchon personally is a Christian is
beyond my ability to ascertain.
