Yep,
I´d go along with your list. Also I don´t take TP`s "Decade after Hiroshima"
literally. To me, It looks like Dick*, Ballard and Herbert are some possible
geniuses in the context of the "Is it OK...-article". Nevertheless the
genius of the praised authors remains of course arguably. Even more because they
vary pretty much in style topic or skill. Anyway TP seperates this ominous
list of geniuses from Beat and older sci-fi. So I would think he does NOT mean
Heinlein, Asimov and the other Golden Age Vets. I don´t go into
differentiating Burroughs, Vonnegut and the whole forbidden Zone between sci-fi and Beat
any... ahem...further...speculations are peanuts.
What we do have are clear traces pointing to the authors mentioned first .
If we want to label them, I think of "the New Maps Of Hell" phase in sci-fi
that Darko Suvin talks about. Yet he cites the term from somewhere else (excuse
me) .> > Then on to politics. He writes: "... Eisenhower

Pynchons whole narrator´s perspective in the article puts him close to
Dick´s "Man in the High Castle" character. Certainly an attitude related to TP.
(And maybe autodeconstructed by hidden jokes, yes.)
