We will just go ön. 
If you want to see things my way, just for a risky second, we could state,
that Berlin is ruled by some sort of Social Democrates for about a century.
Even the NPs here say, that the somewhat rightwinged CDU, governing the last
two decades, became a bit social democratic, while the old East German SED
Party herself refrained from calling themselves Communists and decided ön
Socialists. Even the Nazis couldn´t keep from adding some "socialist" flavour to
their label. (I am irresponsibly simplyfying here and I know that.) 
My thesis: This city demonstrates the terryfying evil of fake  socialism
a.k.a. Sozialdemokratie. At least if taken with that local masochistic approach
towards the "All men are created equal..." pun.

What is going to happen in the long run?

Same as ever. We adapt the American Model and sell the city to the
Federation, i.e. making it a Berlin D.C. (Berlin is nowadays a seperate  state of the
union) 

We are inapt to govern ourselves, it is proven again and again. So this
would be wiiiise.
