An investigation has been launched after pigs at a Norwegian farm apparently
developed diarrhoea following a visit from the police.
The farmer says several pigs fell ill after two officers went in to their
sty, ignoring a sign asking strangers to stop in a bid to avoid
contamination.
They were visiting the farmer to give him a ticket for failing to move his
car quickly enough following a tractor accident.
Lars Kristian Haga, from Lunner, said: "I cannot prove that the police
contaminated my pigs. The causes can be many. But before they entered, there
were no diarrhoea problems."
A special investigation unit has been set up to look into the case. John
Dohrn, from the special investigation unit SEFA, has confirmed the case is
being investigated.
District Veterinary Officer, Dag Lindholm, from Hadeland believes the
officers may have behaved improperly.
Sergeant Erik Berge of Lunner police does not want to comment.
