VV(18): Sirius

Do you want to know why I suspect that Lucifer
must be important if Sirius is?

Better if you explained why Serius is important
to this chapter of the nove.

If Serius is an important clue why is it mentioned
only once? Lucifer or the morning star or Satan
is mentioned several times. The rain or lack of rain
seems to be an important clue too. But what does it
clue us in to? The girl wishes she could pray for rain,
but can not. Why not? Why does she want it to rain?

Serius is mention in the same paragraph as Lucifer.
Lucifer is AKA Venus.
Apollo is mentioned, but he, being a very handsome Male
poet, musician, healer, and prophet, is tiny. He seems to
be little more than a weathervane atop the dome of the Opera.
After these early and brief  "astrological" allusions
we have none. This is quite unusual for this novel.
For example, turn back to Chapter three, the Sun or the lack
of Sun is mentioned a two dozen or so times.

"But there was no sun."

The moon makes a brief appearence, but is really just a balloon.
A balloon (an inflated Pig intestine)  that is in fact dreamed and imagined 
as the moon. This leads to the balloon girl.
The V girls or ladies that may include, but I would like to
hear the evidence, Paola (she is associated with balloon and
the comb, other artifacts and symbols of War and siege).
This is an allusion and a leitmotif that carries into and replies ironically 
and with some very direct and "orthodox" reproach to
the Crew's unwholsome state. The stars are not to be seen.
The haze of the day carries on into the night and the
stars remain hidden.

I have tons more to say abiout this chapter, but
can you answer me? Why is Sirius important ot this
chapter?
