Is Melanie Pynchon's Lulu? Her function is to destroy men (and women)  through her sexual allure, a thing she can only incompletely understand There is, isn't there, the implication that she has destroyed her father, made him disappear? The lady V.'s disintegration is close behind. Louise Brooks who played Lulu in the Pabst film said of her character's demise (and as quoted in today's Washington Post): She is about to receive the gift which has been her dream since childhood. Death by a sexual maniac.
